About Maddie

Before the Lightning Process
From a young age, I’ve been interested in psychology and health, partially due to health issues I experienced from early on in life – including joint pains, poor sleep, and fatigue as a child. By 14, I was bed-bound most of the time, missing school due to widespread pain, brain fog, and nausea. By the age of 15, I found myself struggling with several invisible illnesses, but primarily chronic fatigue and chronic pain, isolating me from my peers. After years of doctor visits and trying various treatments, nothing offered long-lasting relief. My physical health, mental health, and confidence continued to decline.

Discovering the Lightning Process®
At 16, I came across a 3-day NLP-based course called the Lightning Process® (LP), and it transformed my life. Within those three days, my energy, pain, and many other symptoms drastically improved. I was able to return to school, rebuild my fitness, and regain my confidence. It felt like a complete reset. Since then, I’ve used the skills and tools from the LP daily, and they’ve continued to enhance my physical and mental well-being.
Achievements After the Lightning Process®
After doing the LP, I caught up on all my missed studies and completed my GCSEs with top grades, shocking everyone who had known how ill I had been. At 17, I completed my first triathlon, at 18, I did a skydive, and I spent six months traveling solo after also completing my A-Levels. These were things I could have only dreamed of during my bed-bound days, and I was thrilled to be living such an active and exciting life.
Persistent Symptoms and Medication
Despite my massive improvements, a few lingering symptoms remained, and I was eventually diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and a blood clotting condition. Medication helped alleviate those symptoms, allowing me to continue my adventures. I’ve always combined the LP with traditional interventions (medication, physiotherapists, osteopaths etc), and together, they’ve empowered me to live symptom-free most of the time. I believe it's important for clients to know that I emphasize the value of a holistic approach to well-being and encourage using the Lightning Process alongside support from other healthcare professionals. I will never suggest dismissing signs of illness or health concerns that should be addressed by a doctor.
Training with Phil Parker
Inspired by my transformation, I trained with Phil Parker to become an NLP and LP Practitioner. This decision was a natural progression for me, and it was incredibly rewarding to learn from the creator of the LP. I was excited to help others experience the same profound changes in their lives that I had.

More Adventures and Managed Health Conditions
After my training, I went on to Swansea University to study Psychology, where I continued to apply the LP in various areas of life. I joined sports clubs, became captain of the Swansea University Sub Aqua Club, and founded the Wild Swimming Society. I even led a successful randomised control trial for my final year project, receiving an award and publication. The tools I learnt from the LP at 16 allowed me to make the most of my university experience. Along the way, I also used the LP to navigate new physical and mental health challenges, like coeliac disease, glandular fever, various physical injuries (I will never do the splits again!), disordered eating, and the general ups, downs, and stresses of university. I share this to highlight that the Lightning Process is a practical tool, not a mindset that promotes toxic positivity or the notion that we can simply think our way out of problems. It’s not about denying challenges, but about using effective strategies to navigate through them.
Returning to the LP Register
After taking some time to explore new hobbies, volunteer, and travel, I’ve rejoined the LP Practitioner register and am excited to help others on their journey. My personal experiences have equipped me with empathy, understanding, and a passion for supporting clients in using the LP to transform their lives too. I continue to use the LP daily, and it has contributed to many of my successes and the joy I’ve found along the way.
Working With Maddie
Work with someone who truly understands what it’s like to live with chronic illnesses. Having lost her teenage years to CFS, chronic pain, and more, Maddie now helps others reclaim their health and lives. Her approach isn’t just theoretical - she knows firsthand how these tools can create real, lasting change.
I believe no one is ever broken or needs fixing. Instead, my work focuses on helping clients identify what’s holding them back and clarifying what they truly want moving forward. Together, we figure out how the Lightning Process® can be applied to best suit specific needs and goals, without unnecessarily dwelling on past struggles. My approach is rooted in the idea that understanding where you want to go is more powerful than reliving where you’ve been, whilst still honouring the journey you have been on to get here today.
The Lightning Process® is a training programme where I both teach the material and coach clients through applying the tools they learn. This requires active participation - change doesn’t happen passively, and real progress comes from applying the techniques. I have an optimistic, energised, and solution-oriented approach with clients, as I wholeheartedly believe everyone has the potential to influence their own health and well-being, especially once they begin using the Lightning Process®.
I’m passionate about helping you live a happy and healthy life, and I’m dedicated to supporting you on your journey. Together, we’ll work toward the changes you’re ready to make, and as your coach, I’ll be with you every step of the way!

My Clients
I work with individuals who feel ready to make meaningful changes in their health and well-being. My clients are often those who have tried various approaches, and while they may feel stuck, they remain hopeful that there’s a solution that will finally bring them lasting improvement. They believe in their ability to influence their own health through mind-body connections and are excited to try something new to get their life back again.
Common diagnoses or symptoms my clients present with include chronic fatigue (or ME), chronic pain (or fibromyalgia), anxiety, perfectionism, overwhelm, low mood, low self-esteem, sleep problems, ongoing or chronic stress, or persistent physical symptoms (such as headaches, digestive issues, visual problems). The LP has also been successful for other conditions such as complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), long-COVID and a herniated disc; check out LP Success Stories here.
Since completing the LP, I’ve regained my health and have made the most of this by doing all the things I dreamed of as a poorly teenager. Here is a rather long list of things I've done if you would like to get excited about how the LP can get you your life back:
Sailing, surfing, scuba diving, free-diving, festivals, solo backpacking, family weddings, beach days, regular exercise and sports (especially cycling, running, swimming, and yoga), volunteering, the Ha Giang loop, white water rafting, graduating university, enjoying reading, starting a new society at university, road trips in my campervan, canyoning to conquer my fear of heights, swimming under Welsh waterfalls, working as a commercial skipper on a RIB, trying white water kayaking and surf kayaking (in no hurry to do those again!), learning to make silver jewellery, enjoying meals out with friends, paramotoring above the mountains, wandering through Christmas markets, and most importantly, spending quality time with family and friends!
While everyone’s idea of fun is different, I share these to show you what’s possible once your health improves. Having experienced how transformative the LP can be I am truly passionate about helping others live rich and fulfilling lives again. During our training, we’ll explore the things you want to get back to, along with new adventures you’d like to try!
